Manitoba Ombudsman 2024-25 Annual Report

Summary

The Ombudsman is a non-partisan and independent officer of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba whose role is promote transparency, fairness, accountability, and respect for rights in the administration and delivery of public programs and services.

The 2024-25 Annual Report reviews our mandated work under:

  • The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)
  • The Ombudsman Act
  • The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) &
  • The Public Interest Disclosure (Whistleblower Protection) Act (PIDA)

The report also covers our work in reporting on the implementation of inquest report recommendations made under The Fatality Inquiries Act.

The report provides statistics, an overview of education and collaborative efforts, comment on numbers and types of complaints and privacy breach reports received, as well as case summaries of resolutions and investigations.
