2013 Access, Privacy, Security, and Information Management Conference in Winnipeg, May 13-14, 2013

Return to listing

May 10, 2013

On May 13 and 14, 2013, public sector employees from provincial and municipal governments, school divisions, universities, colleges and health care bodies will gather at the Delta Hotel in Winnipeg for the Making Connections: Access, Privacy, Security and Information Management Conference, hosted by Manitoba Ombudsman.

Information is at the core of public programs and services. Access, privacy, security and information management challenges are intertwined with almost everything that public bodies and trustees do. Add to the mix the implications of working in an environment where information technology changes rapidly, and the challenges of dealing with these interconnected disciplines become even more complex.

Manitoba Ombudsman is the oversight office for The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), and The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA).

This conference will strengthen the information access and privacy system in Manitoba by helping employees in the public sector tackle today's information challenges and foster best practices and compliance with legislative requirements under FIPPA and PHIA, which ultimately will improve service delivery to Manitobans.
